The Thomas Township Veteran’s Display was constructed in 2008 to reflect upon the sacrifices endured everyday by countless men and women whose dedication to service forms a very formidable, yet very thin line of protection for us all. These individuals serve as the point of the sword in wartime, and as the shield of protection in peacetime. Numerous national holidays are set aside as a celebration of those selfless endeavors and it is a shame that we tend to remember the sacrifices of the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines and Coast Guardsmen only on those national holidays. This is why we constructed this display as a community effort.
There is a lot of symbolism built into this display. First and foremost, the location. When we decided to build some kind of display, it was decided to build it in the Township’s cemetery. Cemeteries are a place to not mourn the dead, but to celebrate and recognize one’s life. To reflect on that life.

Finally, the sitting or reflection area. Designed simply to allow for a quiet place of contemplation, or as a place to recognize individuals for their contribution to our nation’s safety and well being. This is an area set aside to honor those that have served or are serving now, with engraved bricks. You may purchase an engraved brick for your Vet simply by clicking the icon and returning the form and payment to Thomas Township.
